I've long loved the song Ode to Joy, but until yesterday I had never heard the entire Beethoven Symphony No. 9, nor had I ever read the ode that he used as inspiration for the choral part of that symphony. So, at 60 years old, I finally hear the rest of the story for a song that I have loved and that is said by many to be Beethoven's best work.
The performance was by The Chippewa Valley Symphony.
"Music you love by people you know."
Without intermission, the orchestra played the entire symphony
and it was fantastic!
The choral part of the music is in the 4th movement
and the soloists and choir were impressive to say the very least.
More than once, during the performance, I felt goosebumps and tears forming in my eyes.
Wow!
The simple melody that I previously knew as Ode to Joy,
is not revealed until that 4th movement and it was well worth the wait.

And now a few photos of my feathered friends who in their own way, are an ode to joy and springtime.
