Every morning when I walk down to the mailbox, I talk to my day lily plants and wonder who will have the first bloom for 2017. Some of the red ones are showing a little color through the bud and I expected it might be one of those.
One of the yellow lily clumps has about 50 buds, but they are not quite ready.
Today, as I was walking back up to the house, I noticed that the first lily had opened on a plant up close to the garage that I had not ever considered having a chance at first.
Here it is, the first of many day lilies to bloom in my yard.
