Wednesday evening from Rice Lake

Hello Everybody...

Ev and I are just back from seeing Dad, we took sundaes from the Burger King over for a treat.  When we left, Dad was headed for bed to read.

Today we started the process of getting Dad discharged from the convalescent home on Friday.  YIPPEE!

His doctor here in RL took care of getting the prescriptions faxed to the VA in Mason City, IA and we have his INR/Protime set up through the Marshfield Clinic INR Clinic.  Those were a couple of hurdles that I thought would take more work than it did.

So, Thursday will be more physical and occupational therapy for Dad.  Since his heart is out of rhythm, Dad has to be the judge of how much to do or not to do, but today the doctor told me that if he is unable to maintain the level he is at now, then we should get back to the doctor or ER as that would indicate that his condition was getting worse.

I have been typing up summaries and updates each day and starting giving them to Dad and Ev to read to be sure that they are keeping up with what is going on around them.

Friday morning, the Marshfield Lab will draw blood to check Dad's protime/INR, Dad will have a therapy session or two and then we will bust out of that joint.
Only one week there but it somehow seems longer.

Saturday and Sunday will be spent getting used to being here again.

Monday, Dad has an appointment with Dr. Alaoa who was the cardiologist who put Dad's heart back into rhythm.  The doctor needs to assess Dad's symptoms and then decide about the next treatment, which may be drug therapy or it could be another cardio conversion.  So, Monday will be good.  We also plan to ask about Dad's sleep apnea that both Ev and I have witnessed.  It will also be interesting to see what Dr. Alaoa thinks about Dad's arm that now looks like he is a relative of Barney the dinosaur.  He's got a bruised arm like most of us have never seen before.  Because of that he has refused the heparin/Lovonox injections today as per Dr. McClelland's counsel.

So, that's about it for tonight.   Let me know if you have any questions.

Sweet dreams!
