Well, yesterday we had the visiting nurse here and she checked Dad and talked about some questions that were popping up. I wasn't here, but it sounds like that went well and Dad liked Judy, the nurse.
Today, Friday, we had the Physical Therapist, Dee, here, she was great. She did what she called Manual Lymphatic Drainage on Dad's arm, which is a kind of light massage technique that moves the fluids back up the arm to the lymph nodes. She also worked with Dad on proper technique on the stairs and also gave him some exercises to work on to improve his balance. We all really liked her. We will see her again in 1 week and see another physical therapist on Tuesday of next week.
Now we have the weekend to relax, kind of. Dad has exercises to do and he also has to start setting up his own medications again, so that will be something to get figured out tomorrow. Dad's arm looks much better today, although it is still bothering him some and still has swelling, it has changed from the color of eggplant to a more normal bruised look. To me that seems hopeful.
Yesterday, Ev had a followup appointment with the opthamologist. About a month ago she woke up with a major change of eyesight in her left eye, which he diagnosed as bleeding behind the retina. During that first visit, the Dr. injected the medication Avastin into her eye in hopes to help stop the bleeding behind the retina. Yesterday, he was very pleasantly surprised to note that her eyesight had improved in that eye so he recommended another injection of Avastin into the eye. Not the funnest procedure for sure, but Ev was a real trooper. Perhaps in 4 weeks, she will have even more improvement. Let's be hopeful.
So, it was a busy little week. I got away yesterday to play Bridge with my pals and that was fun. This weekend I think I will be laying low as I am trying to get a cold, no time for that right now.
