A Fall Day in Rice Lake

We had a beautiful fall day in Rice Lake today, with lots of activity.

This morning we had a visit from Gina, the Home Health Nurse who did the admission into Lakeview Medical Center Home Health Care.  She was very nice and also checked Dad's vitals.  So, now we will have visiting nurses and also visiting physical therapists coming to the house for a few weeks.  I am so delighted that I decided to sign Dad up for this as I think it will be nice to have the professional advice for awhile.

This afternoon we had an appointment with Dr. Alaoua, Dad's Cardiologist.  Dr. Alaoua was very concerned about Dad's arm.  He took some measurements of the girth of Dad's arm and when we go back to see him again in 3 weeks, he will check Dad's arm again, if the swelling is down and the arm is healing, he may want to give Dad's heart the zapperdoodletreatment again, but he wants Dad to be on anticoagulants for about 3 weeks after he does that so the arm has to heal first.  He would likely use a drug called Multak in conjunction with the cardiac-conversion, but we won't know for 3 weeks what exact treatment the doctor will suggest.

Dr. Alaoua also suggested that Dad have a sleep study to determine if he has sleep apnea, which can affect his heart rhythm, and could benefit from a sleep C-pap machine.  That will be scheduled at Marshfield Clinic here in Rice Lake.  He also wants Dad to have an overnight Oximeter study, to find out how low his oxygen saturation drops at night, also not good for Atrial Fib.  So, more activity coming.

Then we went to the Medical Supply store to get a new mask and set up for his nebulizer machine as his had cracked.  While I was there I got a shower chair, a bed rail (Thanks for the tip Aunt Jo) and a home blood pressure machine.

Tomorrow the Physical Therapist comes for her first visit, so that will be interesting.

Just for a change of pace, Ev has an appointment with the eye doctor that she saw about a month ago when she experienced a change in her eye sight and he found that she had bleeding behind the retina.  He gave her an injection then and we will check to see if she has had any improvement.

I hope you all enjoyed this nice fall day, after our appointments and shopping, we took a run to Cumberland to buy some delicious sour dough bread at Louie's Finer Meats, the leaves are really starting to turn!
