I recently got this email and photograph from my second cousin, Reimert Ravenholt. What a fun note and wonderful old photograph.
Dear Wanda,
Indeed, the picture I will attach, is a dear picture from 1935: when we were living in Helveg's Hytte by Little Butternut and Eiler and Otto and I enjoyed our very best summer: able to fish and swim whenever we chose!
There came a day when we went swimming at the usual Little Butternut beach and heard a big fish threshing in the weeds a bit from the swimming area. Eiler ran and got a pitch fork and we speared the fish and carried it proudly about (15 pounds) before we cleaned and ate it.
The picture shows us holding it proudly at Solveigs place, with Johanne J. and Valdemar J. and Kris Henriksen there.
Lots of fun that summer!
Sadly, today March 8; is just a year since Eiler suddenly died (cardiac arrest at age 89). A rude shock, indeed.
Fondly,
Reimert
