More work on 'the bench'

It looks much better!

For some reason the blog wants to post the photos in reverse order, so you see our finished work and then the steps along the way.  We are headed back for one more day of work.  More patio stones to make a larger platform, Glenn has a plan for the legs that are partially rotted away and then we will paint the bench.  Hopefully that will wrap up this little project.

The bench itself is study, the legs have suffered some rot from sitting on the wet ground.
This will soon be a sweet spot to sit, just as Aunt Johanne and Erling imagined.

Today I was looking forward to friend Mary arriving for the night.  We were planning on attending a presentation by Hunt Hill Audubon about bird banding, and then we were going to have a fine dining experience at Lehman's.  But...the presentation was rescheduled.  The weather is unstable and it was to be held outside.  So, Mary stayed home and we are looking forward to next Thursday instead.
I have fresh sweet corn for dinner, but it's not like the menu at Lehman's.
