Stella Lily

The first of the day lilies to bloom is always the Stella Lily in the back yard.

 A pretty little flute.

Always a sign of the dog days of summer ☀️.

Today I hung a quilt rack in the guest room,  finally.  I think I bought this before covid, but until today,  I wasn't sure where it should hang.
 I had a    !💡!     during the night.

In the process of getting out my tools, I was hunting for a drill bit. I was about to unzip the case for my pistol grip hand-drill. The case has a gray wedge of fabric on it,  for 20 years I thought it was only decoration.

Today I looked closer and saw it had a velcro closure.
Ta-da.
It holds the screwdriver & drill bits.
Unreal.
I'll post my quilt rack tomorrow,  I need to do some work on what I intend to display.

🏛🏛🏛
I am glued to the hearings regarding the 1/6 attack on our democracy.
Money & power are deadly combinations.
Hillary was right about everything.
I'm hopeful that ⚖️ will be served out in big doses.

PP

 Wanda,

Thank you for supporting Planned Parenthood! Your tax-deductible monthly gift of $10.00 has been processed.

Your monthly gifts help maintain access to sexual and reproductive health care, giving people the chance to protect their health and control their futures. But access to abortion is under serious threat as we await the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade.

On May 14, Planned Parenthood organizations and allies rallied nationwide, with more than a million people joining 450 events to send a message loud and clear: BANS OFF OUR BODIES.

This Day of Action was the first of many to come. We won't be silent while lawmakers strip away our access to essential health care that lets us control our bodies and our futures.

People like you power this movement. No matter how long you've been in this fight, we need your courage and commitment, your strength, and your voice. Thank you for being a part of the Planned Parenthood community.

On behalf of all of the individuals that your support has allowed us to help, thank you for standing with us.

Wrapping up June

A few Peonies linger, they will not last much longer.

I had a walk-about the yard tonight. Ran across this dragon fly getting some sun.

In 2016 the greenhouse in Winter gave out pine tree seedlings for Mother's Day. I planted mine but had little hope that the 2 inch stick would survive.
They handed out the seedlings planted in a small dixie cup.
Tonight that little tree is thriving. It has a strong leader and is about 3 feet tall now.  It needs some weed removal but I'm believing it will grow into a nice tree.

Behind the garage, this volunteer Peony has 1 bloom.

The squirrels and chipmunks have been busy planting sunflower seeds.
Tonight I noticed the ants are also gardening,  and pretty successfully too.

My herb garden is doing great. My invention of a little water reservoir made from the top of a plastic water bottle jammed into the potting soil seems to be working.

Another happy success is the hop pole in the backyard.
The hop vinecis a volunteer and the pole is the stand that came with the Purple Martin house.  Next year this will be even better as the hops will have something to climb from the get-go.

Yesterday I visited the cemetery at West Denmark.  The plant I added to Grandparents Ansgar & Frederikke's gravesite is doing nicely.
The Red Verbena that I planted for Dad & Ev is doing very well. I can see it is stretching to the East as it gets almost no West sun.

Verbena is so accommodating.  I think Dad & Ev would have liked how this looks.

Today I bought my first bucket of strawberries.

I had a big bowl of berries and whipped cream
as I watched the latest segment of January 6th Hearings.
If I can swing it,, I'm not going to miss any of the hearings.
At first I felt it was my civic duty to watch some of the first one, now it's like a train wreck that I cannot look away from.  The depth of corruption and brazenness of behaviors contrary to our constitution is shocking.
The republican witnesses give me hope that our political system can recover.🤞
