WIAA 8-Player Football State Championship Information and Prediction

WIAA 8-Player Football State Championship Information and Prediction

Newman Catholic (12-0) vs. Luck (12-0), Saturday 1 pm at Dorais Field in Chippewa Falls
Luck and Newman Catholic have been the top two-ranked teams in the WisSports.net 8-Player Football Coaches Poll all season, and it is appropriate that the two unbeaten squads meet up for the 8-Player Football State Championship this weekend. Both teams have been dominant all season, including the playoffs, where every game featuring the clubs has been decided by at least 33 points.
This will be a significant contrast in styles, as Newman Catholic is loaded with talent athletes running a spread offense. Quarterback Ben Bates spear-heads the attack, with running back Thomas Bates and versatile receivers Charlie McCarty, Dylan Ackerman, and Joe Stephan among the best in the state at their positions. No players on Newman Catholic are listed at or above 200 pounds.
Conversely, Luck has the most powerful rushing attack in 8-Player once again, averaging 320 yards per game and ten rush yards per attempt. Ten Cardinals players are listed at at least 200 pounds. After finishing as the state runner-up last season, Luck is hungry to hoist a gold ball in 2019.
My Pick: Luck 38, Newman Catholic 32

I like what I read above.  I hope that he's right of course.
Gage will likely get a chance for some exciting defensive plays, hopefully like this one from last week's win against Shell Lake.

Interceptions can be game changers and can upset momentum.
Go Cardinals!
