Just showing off

On Thursday, 4/1, I posted some photos of a jet that had flown low over my house a few times.  I was imagining that there was a landing gear issue or something, but it turns out, he was just showing off!  The Rice Lake Chronicle cleared up the mystery on the front page yesterday.
My story was more glamorous, but this is pretty big news for a small airport like Rice Lake.

Vinny

Little Vincent Lee Loyas was born on April 1, 2010.  I went to visit him today.  His Mom, Linsey, seems to be doing well getting used to being a mom.  Vinny is a cutie pie.
Such a big yawn

Such a little foot

Such long fingers

Such a sweet sleeping baby

A flock of visitors

I had a flock of Waxwings out front this morning, 15 or 20 in the group.  The lighting was not good for photos as you can see.

But this big Robin, who has been guarding the Western Ash berries since he arrived, waited patiently for those Waxwings to leave, then he returned to his perch.

It's a boy

And I guess that wasn't enough news for one day,
Vincent Lee
 was born @ 7:21pm on 4/1/2010.
He is 19 1/2'' long and weighs 6 lbs 14 oz.
Linsey's first and now Glenn and Kathy are Great Grandparents,
Dad & Ev are Great Great Grandparents,
and I am a Great Great Aunt.

Baby and Mom were doing well at last report.

Lots of new for April Fool's Day and all of it the honest to goodness truth.
Next year...watch out.

From Wax Wings to Jet Wings

This afternoon while I was out in the yard, I was surprised by a jet flying very low over the house.  Thinking it might be an Air National Guard jet doing some kind of maneuvers, I ran in the house and grabbed my camera.  I'm not sure what was going on, but this plane flew over my house a total of 3 times.

Maybe the local newspaper will clear it up next week?.?

No April Fools

I woke up early this morning and so started the day with coffee and checking out the yard to see who from the bird family was around.  It was busy out in the yard for sure.  This morning we (when I say we, I mean the cats and I, they don't miss much in the yard) saw:  doves, house finch, blue jays, chickadees, gold finch, juncos, cardinals, robins and much to my delight...Cedar Waxwings.

I love their 'lone ranger' masks.

There is a red bar on that tail too.

They look so 'sly'.

A delight to see them, even though they only stay for a few minutes.

Although I love those Cedar Waxwings, they are a not here long enough for me to love them more than my cardinals.  Mr. & Mrs. showed up this morning just to remind me that they are my favs!
