Jim and Janette Swenson are good friends of Dad & Ev's from Belmond, IA. They have known each other for a long time and have watched out for each other over the years.
Jim and Janette came to Rice Lake to visit over the weekend.
They arrived Friday afternoon.
We had some nice hours of visiting and then started a little happy hour.
About the time we were getting into the cocktail hour, nephew Kris and his dog Greta arrived, they also were planned as overnight guests.
I made Rocky Mountain Brisket out of the Colorado Cache cookbook for supper and we had fresh sweet corn from Mommsen's. I also made red potatoes in lemon sauce from the Tried and True cookbook co-authored by my good friend Mary Stenberg.
Very fun evening.

Saturday we got off to a slow start, but J & J did a little poking around the area looking at antique stores.
Gus and Lois called and said that they had business in RL, so they stopped by just after lunch.
Then, Ryan and Camilla called and said that they were in RL for a family gathering, so they stopped by with the girls Ellie and Milena.
Well, we had a full house, but the day was nice and some sat out on the deck and we had a nice visit with all.
We laughed hard about some silly paper masks I had picked up at The Potter's Shed in Shell Lake.

Saturday evening I made Chicken Devine out of The Colorado Cache cookbook and again we had fresh sweet corn. We also had fresh green beans from Lois's garden and fresh cucumbers from her as well.
Yum.
On Sunday morning we had sweet rolls before we said goodbye to Jim and Janette.
A fun visit, but more activity than we are used to around here, so Sunday afternoon was nap time.
